So remember to stop by Melt Shop or order online for a meal you won’t forget!
The food is amazing. The wait is excruciating. I ordered my food at 11am and received it at 12:45pm. Thank God I wasn't starving. I ordered the Buttermilk Chicken sandwich with a shake. Both tasty but there was no straw, which made the shake hard to manage. If you don't mind the wait, then it is worth it.

I received the wrong sandwich, but it was good. Pickle is great!

I see the start system is for rating the food, but my 2 stars is for overall experience. Ordered before 12, food got here at 2. Forgot my milk shake. Milk shake got to my office at 3. Maybe it's because it's Friday, and/or a new place, not sure. The food was solid/good. Milk shake was very good. Though food was no where good enough to wait 3+ hours for my complete meal. Over time perhaps it will get better.

First time ordering from here. Food took an hour and 45 minutes to arrive and was cold when it did. When I called the restaurant to check in on my order (after an hour), the person who picked up acted annoyed and said it was leaving. Hard to believe since it took another 45 minutes to arrive. I am sure the food would have been good if it arrived in a timely and heated manner, but the service, that will always leave a bad taste in my mouth.

Their food is usually pretty good, but delivery is really horrible. I was given 35-50 minute wait time. Called at 50 min, told delivery guy would leave in 10 min. Called 30 minutes later and was told he left just now with 2 other orders. It's now been 1.5hrs and still nothing and I'm a few blocks away. Whoever I spoke with (twice) was very unapologetic as well. I also expect that since the food was ready when I first called 40 minutes ago, it's going to be terrible.
Posted 2 months ago by Stavan D.
The food was quite good; however, it took hours to arrive and the order was incorrect. Seamless noted a 35-50 minute wait period, but the email confirmation that followed said 60-75 minutes. I called after 1 1/2 hours, 1 hour 45 minutes and again at 2 hours. Each time, I was told the order "left 15 minutes ago and would be there in 5." When it finally arrived - 2 1/2 hours later - only half of the order was in the bag. They refunded my credit card and offered to deliver the outstanding order within 10 minutes, but that was 20 minutes ago and I am not optimistic.

Melt Shop makes the best grilled cheese sandwiches around. I especially recommend the Buffalo Blue Chicken and the Turkey Reuben. One word of caution: don't order on a Friday night unless you can afford to wait over two hours. I have made that mistake a few times and learned my lesson.
Posted 2 months ago by Mark R.
The food was supposed to arrive in 30-50 minutes, but took 90 minutes, and when it showed up the food was cold and the bread stale.
Posted 2 months ago by Melissa B.
Delivery takes forever! Be prepared to wait 60-75 minutes for a cold grilled cheese sandwich. Don't bother calling the restaurant and complaining; the kids that answer the phone could care less about you or your order.
Posted 2 months ago by Lee A.
Waited 2 hrs for two sandwiches. I knew I had to wait a while which is fine but then to receive soggy cold grilled cheeses after all that time is unacceptable, especially since the place is a block away from my work!! The truffle GC didn't have truffle oil on it, and the dirty GC was soggy and cold. Not a good first impression....

I can't review the food because they failed to deliver my order.

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. 30-50 min wait time turned into 2 hours. Food was probably prepared right after I ordered and just left on a counter because everything was soggy and cold when it arrived. Avoid this place.
Posted 2 months ago by Mark L.
food is DELICIOUS - i don't usually have to wait longer than they say buuut my "melt" is usually not so melty...love the tomato soup!
Posted 2 months ago by Lauren T.
The food is amazing, but the delivery times are terrible. They are rarely there when they say, and when you call for an update they have no idea. The food is amazing though and the meltsauce is delicious. The shop tots are great also.

more than 2 hours for 1 sandwich ! and the delivery guy coming casually with a skateboard in hand...
the food is just fine, I would probably order regularly if only the delivery time wasn't so atrocious. They should hire another delivery guy, from the other comments it looks like it's not an isolated issue...
Posted 2 months ago by CHARLES M.
The food is decent - its not a life changing grilled cheese, but its good, yeah. Delivery took twice as long as stated on seamless - I was told 35-50 minutes, took an hour and a half. For the price, the quality, and the wait, its probably not worth it.
Posted 3 months ago by Matt A.
The grilled cheese was pretty good, but I had to reheat it in the microwave. Granted it was SUPER cold outside when I ordered...
Posted 3 months ago by Allison G.
i should have read all the reviews before ordering. I ordered a regular grilled a soup and cheese sandwich a hand spun shake and ice tea to meet the order minimum. The sandwich was hard, cold and bitter. The shake was soupy and the soup was cold. I wasted 20 dollars for this.
Posted 3 months ago by Vancestone H.
took 1.5 hrs. cold soup on arrival. avoid around dinner time. lunch deliver has been more prompt.

Sucks - took 2 hours to get my delivery when they said 35-60 mins

THE WORST!!!! I read the reviews on how late they deliver so I decided to place my order at 11am to ensure we get it by 12 or 12:30 the latest. It is 1:30pm right now. We waited 2 and a half hours and STILL haven't received the food. Seamless was gracious enough to cancel our order and I am absolutely disappointed in the Melt Shop and will never order them through Seamless again.

Ordered here a few times and everything is amazing...all the sandwiches, tots, shakes. Only thing is that the delivery time is REALLY slow. It's always over an hour. Sometimes 1.5 hours. If you're close enough to the store, you're better off just going there to pick up the food. Regardless, I'll always be a returning customer here because the food is so good!

waited 2 hours for my order, called the shop and they said it was on its way. Called 30 minutes later and they told me it hadn't left yet. Cancelled the order all together.

Ordered food, estimated time to deliver was 30-40 minutes. 1 hr 10 minutes later, they called me to tell me that their delivery driver didn't show up and that I wouldn't be getting my food. They offered me free tots, but since they aren't delivering, what was the point???? Glad it took them an hour after my order to figure out it wasn't showing up...

Do yourself a favor and pick it up. It's grilled cheese-- how well do you THINK it travels?
Posted 6 months ago by Marc M.
I was very very disappointed in the service they said 60-75 mins it was over 90mins and I had to call to see what happened. The soup and the tots were cold and my sandwich was no longer a melt!! Very disappointed!!
Posted 6 months ago by Elsiana J.
Long delivery times, but it you're a patient person, it's some of the best grilled cheese on Seamless. I recommend The Dirty. Just mentally tack on 30-60 minutes to whatever estimated delivery time they give you.
If you're wondering what Melt Sauce is, it's sort of like thousand island dressing, but waaay better. Definitely worth getting to dip your sandwich or tots in.

So slow! Every time I order it takes at least 1.5 hrs to get my food. Posted delievery times are always 45mins + and they always take at least an add'l 30 mins. I am 2.5 blks away. Food is usually good but frankly overpriced for what it is & it's often soggy as other commenters have mentioned. This is my last order from Melt Shop. I'm done.

What happened to the tomato soup????? I love grilled cheese and tomato soup and order from here frequently. Imagine my surprise when they took the soup off the menu. Seriously?
Posted 7 months ago by Amanda C.
Terrible. Both times I had to call after the *extremely long* estimated delivery time had elapsed and ask where my order was. Both times I had to wait a long time afterwards to receive my food.
Posted 7 months ago by John B.
The food here is great, and I have never had a major problem with delivery.
I'm very glad they just put their Turkey Reuben back on the delivery menu!!! It's the best.
The only issue I've ever had with Melt Shop is their erratic item availability (things disappearing from the delivery menu, or being out of stock after being ordered), and them keeping odd hours, both window and delivery. The food itself though? Excellent every time.
Posted 7 months ago by Marc W.
Ok, they have good grilled cheese. Hence the star. HOWEVER...
1. Estimated delivery times have NO connection to reality. (Maybe that's when they start making it?)
2. They charge for condiments, which they often forget.
3. They pretty much ignore requests (including the checked box for utensils, even if you also write in the request).
4. The food is sometimes (not always) ice cold when it arrives, which obviously makes it significantly less delicious.
5. They've listed themselves as a gluten-free option, even though they don't offer gluten-free grilled cheese. NOT OK.
So, this is my last order. And you have all been warned...

I love this place. But horrible delivery! Do not order from here unless you are actually going there or like super cold sandwiches with bitchy delivery

Extremely poor service. Estimated time of delivery not meet repeatedly and several calls to this establishment go unanswered. This has happened to me on more than one occasion. Not sure where the problem exists but though the food is excellent the service is terrible!
Posted 8 months ago by Anthony J.
When the order came it, they had forgotten my drink. I started eating my sandwich and found that they had left the wax paper attached to the cheese. When I called I told them that I just wanted a refund and not to send any more food. They told me the manager would call me back. An hour later I called again and the manager said they had sent food over. I didn't want the food and so the manager promised a refund. 2 weeks later and I never got a refund. By far my worst Seamless experience. The food isn't that good either... don't waste your time and energy.

I order from here on Saturdays sometimes when I feel like treating myself for having to work on the weekend. It's only a couple blocks from my office, but occasionally I don't have the time to walk over and then wait 10-15min for my sandwich. The food is delicious and the tots are usually nice and crispy (get the melt sauce!) but their delivery is incredibly inconsistent. I am 1.5 blocks away and it have taken over 1.5 hours for the delivery guy to make it here and by the time he arrived my tots were soggy. Soggy tots, unhappy me. I am going to continue ordering, but now I will order ahead for pickup. Also check them out for breakfast! Yum!

It has been two hours since we have ordered our food & my entire office is whining at me that they are hungry! Food is usually good, but who knows at this rate!

The sandwich (buttermilk chicken) and tater tots were still warm and crispy when it arrived. The soup was lukewarm, but that's to be expected. The delivery was great, at the early side of the service window. The food was tasty, especially the tater tots. Definitely will order from here again.
Update: Every time since the first time I have ordered from Melt Shop they have 1) exceeded the delivery window by at least 30 minutes, which is horrible for lunch service and/or 2) left out items from my order, i.e., extra melt sauce, soup, drink. The food is still delicious, but the delivery problems are pretty overwhelming.

Estimate said "30-50min" took over 2hrs to get my food. The delivery was missing a milkshake, which took another 45min to deliver. When I called they kept saying that the delivery man would "be there any second". DO NOT ORDER FROM HERE. TERRIBLE SERVICE

I should have looked at the reviews because my 35-50 minute order took 90 minutes to arrive. Soup arrived hot still.. sandwich not so much. That said, it was the nicest delivery guy I have ever had. He actually asked how my day was going!
I really like the food here.... i just may not choose delivery again.

The other reviewers here are correct -- the delivery took close to 2 hours to arrive! The tots were OK, but the grilled cheese sandwich was cold and had a weird taste to it. The tomato soup was bland and also very cold.

Food was cold and delivery took 1.5 hours! Don't order from here. It's one of the biggest rip offs in the city. The actual components of the sandwich cost $.75 and they charge $6.95 to bring you a greasy excuse for a meal. I called to ask how long my order would take and was told that they were really busy and couldn't give me an actual estimate. Lousy food, lousy service, epic fail of a restaurant. Don't order from here!
Posted a year ago by Sean D.
Food arrived cold after waiting over an hour and items were missing. Unfortunately, this is not the first time that has happened. It's annoying enough that they now charge for Melt Sauce, that they then fail to deliver it. Repeatedly. Had to call several times to get someone to answer the phone, the person who answered asked what the delivery guy looked like, but since he left the bag at the front desk of my building and took off, I couldn't tell her. I will only order from them again if I'm available to pick-up the order, so I can check to make sure everything is in the bag.

I love this place. My only complaint is that I wish they would provide more melt sauce in each cup. I find that I need about one and a half to two cups of melt sauce for an order of shop tots. But the shop tots are some of the best tater tots you'll ever have. I've tried several of the sandwiches but my favorite is Buffalo Bleu. I've never had a bad sandwich here. The cookies and cream shake is a mindblowingly delicious way to end a meal from this place. Warning: this place will probably become one of your guilty pleasures

This place is AMAZING. Their food is delish. Any thing you order you will love. I only gave 4 stars because they ALWAYS seem to mess up the delivery. Either it takes forever to come (they're located in Midtown manhattan so I'm sure theyre super busy) or they forget to add things to my order. If you order from here be prepared to WAIT FOREVER.

Buttermilk chicken sandwich was good and very filling. Also got the tater tots and they were also very good, and a nice size portion. Sandwich stayed pretty crispy until the very end, then again it was a grilled sandwich that was delivered so couldn't expect anymore. WIll add this to my short list of places I would order from again.

This is a seriously good Buttermilk Fried Chicken Grilled Cheese sandwich.....
Tasty coleslaw and juicy fried chicken is a just-thick-enough slice of sourdough bread, with their house melt sauce. Just made my Wednesday. Oh and it's also a really large sandwich.
My only suggestion - find a way to keep the sandwiches warmer so that us Seamless-ordering folks can get our sandwiches hot and fresh, will make the experience that much better.

New Yorker's are a tough bunch! For a place actually called "The Melt Shop" serving a relatively limited menu of mostly of grilled cheeese variants and their accompaniments, it's really a great place! Even if it's not always piping hot or NYT 4 star gourmet, -- being a big busy city, delvery can be inconsistent (at times) -- the food almost always hits the mark, is homey and tasty. When something simple, tasty and fun is called for, then Melt Shop is an A+ choice. If you want more than a great sandwhich and soup (and some other sinful stuff) find a place that advertises more and hope they deliver, no pun intended. It's 5 stars for me because it delivers what it pormises -- and there aren't many businesses that do.

The tator tots really hit the spot; they were fried to a great golden crisp and seasoned perfectly, but the grilled cheese was only average and arrived cold even though the delivery only took 30 mins (I guess grilled cheeses don't travel well?).

I called to ask how much longer the wait would be, they told me they called me to tell me the delivery would be late. They did not call me nor had any missed calls.
Ordered the tuna melt + bacon (for extra $2)
Barely had any tuna on it (thank goodness for the bacon) and they forgot the "melt" on my tuna melt. No cheese???
Regardless, with all the butter, grease and salt, it was still tasty.
The tomato soup is chunky (which I personally like) but is very very salty.
$16 for a sandwich + soup (and I'm still hungry).
Probably won't order from here again.

I ordered the Pulled Pork sandwich from Melt Shop today, and my life will never be the same again. While delivery was 15 minutes late, all traces of annoyance, anger and crankyness dissipated upon my first bite of the sandwich. Every morsel was CORPULENT with butter, flavor, grease and pig, and while that may sound disgusting and unhealthy, it filled the void in my soul for food happiness. I sit here agog... I've used Seamless for three years but have never once been moved to write a review, but Melt Shop has reached my heart (figuratively and literally, can't be having too many of these at my age). They have my undying loyalty and affection, and for them I will fight until my last breath.

Wow... Who is the genius who thought to combine my two favorite sandwiches (grilled cheese & pulled pork)? The grilled cheese pulled pork sandwich is the most delicious creation I've had for lunch in quite awhile. Cheese oozing w/ bbq pork & pickles encased in crispy buttery bread... I may just go to the gym twice as often so I don't need to limit my intake.

1 star off for 1 hour and 15 minutes to deliver grilled cheese 1 block.
Ordered grilled cheese with sliced tomato. I don't eat meat, but pieces of ham were stuck to the sides of the sandwich which I had to pick off.
1 star off for sloppy cooking.
~$12 for grilled cheese and tater tots delivered. For this much it should be a pretty impressive meal with no drama. I might try them again.

The Buttermilk-Fried Chicken Grilled Cheese Sandwich is amazingly delicious. Chicken is spot on, slaw is crunchy, and the jalapeno jack cheese is great with it. Could have used some more cheese. It is a grilled cheese at heart after all. The bites without the heat were less happy than the bites with.
I'm a fries guy, but the tots were tasty. Melt sauce that went with them was nothing special.
Got a pickle as well. Maybe it was just me, but it was very sour. Sour isn't a bad thing when it comes to pickles, but it sort of clashed with the sandwich. A straight up dill or even garlic dill would have raised the sandwich to another level.
